Exclusive Bach Up For Sale In National Park | Stuff.co.nz

It's a Kiwi bach out of reach of most families - in Abel Tasman National Park, accessible only by boat, and with a $1.58 million price tag.

The private hideaway at Boundary Bay went on the market this week. The bach was used as a family holiday home by the owners, the Wills family, of Christchurch.

Family member Sarah Roberts said the decision to sell was a difficult one for the family, with many special memories there including her wedding.

It was also the end of a family legacy started by her grandfather Eric who originally bought the land, then 40 hectares, just before the beginning of World War II.

The architecturally designed bach features an outdoor solar shower, a composting toilet, is powered by solar panels, and includes mobile coverage and broadband.

Bayleys Real Estate agent Jan Long said it was a unique offer. Most private land in the national park was kept within families, passed down between generations and rarely came up for sale.

Its price tag was also because the bach had many amenities and came with 2.7 hectares of private land nestled in the national park, within walking distance of Torrent Bay, Frenchman's Bay and Bark Bay.

The four-bedroom bach has been designed with two wings, linked by a multi-level deck. The deck provides an area for outdoor living, cooking and dining.

"One of the wings contains four bedrooms which can accommodate up to 12 people, and a bathroom, while the other wing houses the kitchen, dining and living area," she said.

The property has direct access to the golden-sand beach and its own deepwater mooring .
