If you're sick of flipping switches all over your house just to turn the lights on, getting a set of remote control power switches may be the perfect solution.
We've talked about this solution before Belkin's WeMo series, but they're a bit on the pricey side. I ended up grabbing a set of these generic power switches for $15 and hooked up my three floor lamps to them. Needless to say, it's way better than walking to each lamp and turning the switches, especially when some of them were hard to reach.
They're not new technology by any means, and they don't offer some of the cool features of WeMo (like the automatic timer and nifty mobile app interface), but they're a great, cheap alternative that just works.
