STD clause for 'Jersey Shore' cast contract?

All that lovin' that happens in "Jersey Shore's" hot tub and the smush room? MTV might be making it clear to its hard-partying cast that the network is in no way responsible for any STDs that may be transmitted during filming of the reality show.

In an interview with the New York Daily News, Seth Kaufman, TVGuide.com's former editorial director,?said that there's a clause in the cast's standard contract about venereal diseases, which he shared with the paper. Here's a bit from the alleged contract:

?Producer hereby informs me, and I acknowledge and accept, that the other participants have not been screened for any diseases, sicknesses or other health conditions (and specifically have not been tested for any sexually transmitted diseases) and I assume all risks of interacting with the other participants, including any consensual contact.?

Kaufman told the Daily News that the document "was passed to me from someone close to the show." He also noted that he was told such clauses are "pretty standard for reality shows."

In a statement to TODAY.com, MTV said, "We do not comment on specifics of contracts or series in production."

Regardless, it seems like it's the same responsibility all we non-reality-TV personalities accept for our own bedroom shenanigans. Right?

"The Jersey Shore" is currently filming its sixth season in Seaside Heights, N.J. Though star Snooki is pregnant and The Situation is sober after a stint in rehab, expect there to still be plenty of drama. Deena Cortese and JWoww have already run into trouble, with the former getting arrested for disorderly conduct in early June, and the latter on crutches after a bar fight.

Do you think MTV should be held responsible for any STDs the cast might catch during filming? Or does the clause in the reported contract make sense? Share your thoughts on our Facebook page.
