(Photo : Chronic Dev) A picture showing what looks like a jailbroken iPhone 5
An iOS 6 jailbreak untethered version is reportedly coming to the iPhone 5 imminently, according to new releases out this week.
Chronic Dev developers have recently released a picture of their progress in producing the jailbreak for Apple?s latest generation smartphone. The photo reveals numerous unauthorized widgets from the pull-down notification bar on the device.
The photo seemingly proves that the developers are well on their way to getting an untethered jailbreak out soon as these types of widgets are only possible to access when the device is unlocked.

According to Chronic Dev: "I would characterize it more as finding the missing pieces rather than debugging at this stage. Typically the messiest part of the jailbreak process has been installing it in the first place."
The statement continued, "We're further along that WWJC. But again, I can't give any specifics. The jailbreak itself is stable but we're missing needed exploits. I can't discuss what we're missing."
In September an iOS6 jailbreak was revealed in images for the iPhone 5, released by Grant Paul. He provided numerous screen grabs and posted them on social media site Twitter to show what appears to be Cydia installed on the iOS 6. However, numerous sites have said that they were unable to authenticate the photos.
That posting claimed that the jailbreak was easier than the iPhone 4S and that it took just 30 minutes to perform on the iPhone 5.
In other news the iPhone Dev-Team's Redsn0w tethered jailbreak is now compatible with iOS 6 on the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and the fourth generation iPod Touch. But of course being tethered means the procedure must be repeated every time the smartphone reboots.
